From misty farmers markets to rain-soaked city streets, Elizabeth’s story is a beautiful reminder that rainy weather doesn’t have to mean hiding your style. Based in Portland, Oregon, Elizabeth brings warmth, confidence, and a touch of magic to even the grayest days – and her RainSisters coats are very much part of that story.
Life in Portland – Green, Lively, and Full of Possibilities
Elizabeth is 42 and works as the Director of Leadership Development for a large corporation. Originally from the Southwestern United States, she found herself unexpectedly falling in love with the Pacific Northwest.
“Portland feels like living on a movie set,” she shares. “It’s so green and full of life, such a contrast to New Mexico, where everything is brown and beautiful in a harsher way.”

What she loves most is Portland’s balance: a vibrant city life surrounded by rivers, forests, and mountains. Even after five years, she still makes a point to explore something new at least twice a month – whether that’s a new restaurant, a craft fair, or a farmers market.
Finding Her Style – and Herself
Elizabeth describes her personal style journey as deeply connected to self-acceptance.
“As a kid, I felt like I needed to blend in and be small because of my bigger build,” she explains. Over time, that mindset began to shift, though new questions emerged – Am I too old for this? Is this still stylish?
Today, her focus is simpler and far more powerful: what makes her feel her best. Unique statement pieces – bold patterns, one-of-a-kind jewellery, or striking outerwear – help her feel authentic and confident, regardless of trends or age.
The Search For a Raincoat That Didn’t Hide Her
Living in Portland introduced a very real wardrobe challenge: rain. Lots of it.
“I’d put together a cute outfit, then cover it with a boxy, frumpy raincoat that made me feel invisible,” Elizabeth says. “I kept thinking – there has to be something better.”
That search led her to RainSisters.
From the very first click, she knew she had found what she’d been missing. “The cuts, the fabrics – it was exactly what I was looking for.”

Now, the hardest part was choosing which RainSisters coat to get. For nearly a week, Elizabeth had six different RainSisters coats sitting in her cart, waiting for her to make up her mind.
“I was honestly just hoping for something better than a windbreaker,” she says. “Finding these works of art was thrilling.”
Eventually, she chose two coats that seemed to reflect different sides of her personality: ‘Spring Bloom’ and ‘Forest Flower’.
Two Coats, Two Moods
“My ‘Spring Bloom’ coat is my bright, bubbly side,” Elizabeth explains. “It’s fun, friendly, and inviting. Every time I wear it, I make a new friend.”

Her ‘Forest Flower’ coat, on the other hand, channels something deeper. “She’s quieter, moodier – like a forest witch heading out on an adventure. I feel confident and a little edgy every time I wear it.”
What she loves most is that each coat allows her to express a different version of herself, without compromise.
Compliments, Connections, and Princess Moments
One of Elizabeth’s favorite things about her RainSisters coats is that they are the outfit.
“I'm often sad to take my coat off because I like it more than what I'm wearing underneath,” she admits.
According to Elizabeth, ‘Forest Flower’ over a black dress and heels is perfect for the theater, while ‘Spring Bloom’ pairs just as beautifully with leggings and boots for errands or a rainy stroll through the market. What’s even better is that she gets stopped almost every time she wears her coats, although one moment in particular stands out.

“A little girl stopped me at a market and told me I looked like a princess,” she recalls. “I was wearing a messy bun, leggings, and sneakers – but I felt so beautiful at that moment.”
For Elizabeth, such moments of connection are just as special as the compliments themselves.
Built For Real Rain
Portland’s long rainy season puts outerwear to the test, and Elizabeth’s RainSisters coats pass with ease, while having a waterproofness rating of 10’000 mm.
“In Portland, there’s a weird aversion to umbrellas,” she shares. “So a good raincoat is essential.”

She’s worn her RainSisters coats through full days of markets, festivals, errands, and outdoor events – staying dry, comfortable, and polished. She especially loves the thoughtfully designed hoods that protect from rain without ruining her hair. For Elizabeth, it’s also all about the cut.
“They’re not short and flimsy, and they’re not bulky and heavy. They’re light, flattering, and the length keeps me dry without needing tons of layers.”
Final Thoughts: Are RainSisters Coats Worth It?
Elizabeth’s answer is immediate.
“Absolutely. Justifying the cost is easy – choosing which one to buy is the hard part.”
If you’re questioning whether you should get a RainSisters coat, Elizabeth’s message to other women is one we wholeheartedly share:
“Wear what makes you happy. Take up space. Don’t be afraid to be noticed.”
From rainy Portland streets to pumpkin patches and farmers markets, Elizabeth proves that style, confidence, and practicality can coexist beautifully.
