Fit and Flare Coat with Pleated Skirt in Green and Black | Forest Flower

I love this coat. The fabric is gorgeous and the construction is beautiful. I received at least 5 compliments on it the first two times I wore the coat. This is my new beautiful coat when I want to feel dressed up. It held up in the snow. I originally purchased the wrong size and customer service was very friendly when I had questions (the size I wanted was out of stock). This coat is a keeper for a very long time.

I bought this coat in July 2025, but I wanted to wait until I was able to wear this coat a few times to leave the kind of good and thorough review a purchase of both this price and quality needs.

I had been considering this coat for a long while, but finally took the plunge this past summer during their annual sale. I hesitated so long in buying this coat because I'm plus sized-- large bust, large upper arms, apple shaped-- and have a relatively short torso and legs; I was afraid that the coat wouldn't fit well across my bust, would be too tight on my upper arms, and that the porportions would be off. Although all plus size girlies know that it's best to shop in store so that things can be tried on, we often don't get that opportunity... but still this coat seemed too expensive to take chance. I'm here to say to do it. And here to tell you why.

First, I'm in NYC and when I purchased, there were no tariffs (though this may have changed by now). If this is a concern for you, check in with customer service before buying. I did just that and they emailed me back the very next day with their most up-to-date information on the matter.

The coat itself is gorgeous. The green is deep, rich, and moody. The pattern is beautiful and good quality, not showing any pixilation. The material is thick and the light pink satin lining is lovely. I saw some reviews across the site about the lining puckering or not fitting the sleeve area properly, and I'm happy to say that is not my experience. I have big, curly hair, so the hood came up a bit short with my hair in a high-ish ponytail, but when I had my hair down, it covered my head completely and went out over my eyebrows. The coat's weather proofing is adequate for NYC downpours and holds up to gusty winds. I bought the sash separately and found that it helped to keep everything in place when it was windy. I like the pockets, though with the sash on and cinched their placement is a bit awkward.

The coat is much heavier than you'd expect. If you run warm/hot, you won't be able to comfortably wear it until late fall. I attempted to wear this coat twice during the early fall, when it reached a high of about 72 degrees, and found myself overheating. If you're in NYC or the Mid-Atlantic, your window for wearing this coat might be smaller than anticipated, so if you're considering cost-per-wear, this might be something to keep in mind.

Customer service was great. After consulting with a team member about the coat, as well as reading reviews, I went with my normal size, a 2XL. While this did fit, it left no room for layering sweaters underneath. It also felt a bit snug in the upper arms when wearing a sleeveless dress. If you only plan to wear the coat when it's about 60-70 degrees, this might work for you. But, since I plan to wear the coat on chillier, rainy days (40 degrees), I wanted the option to wear a sweater with it. I decided to do an exchange and size up.

The exchange process was pretty easy. I will say, however, that during sale periods it is easiest to reach out via WhatsApp. Customer service answered my questions and processed my exchange via WhatsApp the same day-- which was very impressive considering the time difference! They also provided an update when the original coat was received and when the new one was on its way to me.

The original coat shipped via DHL and the second via FedEx. I found the DHL shipping to have been much faster, but since it was summer and far too hot to wear the coat, I wasn't exactly pressed about shipping speeds.

The only criticisms that I have about the experience pertain to the sash that I purchased to go with the coat. I think given the design and the price, it should be included. It should also come already attached to the coat with more than two belt loops. When I did the exchange, I asked customer service if I would be able to purchase extra belt loops and have their team attach the loops for me, as I don't really know any tailors that I would trust with my beautiful new coat. The customer service team graciously and generously told me that they could attach the loops free of charge-- but when I got the new coat, the loops were included but not attached. While I certainly appreciate the free loops, they still haven't been attached because I still don't know someone who could do the job reliably.

But, this is really just a minor complaint. All in all, my experience with RainSisters has been wonderful. The very first time I wore my coat, I ran into woman wearing a different RainSisters coat... and no one has ever witnessed two strangers so delighted to see each other on a rainy City street! I hope to see more of these coats out in the wild, if for no other reason than to give me inspo for my next purchase during the next sale. In the meantime, though, I'll happily take in all the compliments that I continue to get each and every time I wear my coat!

I bought this coat for my lover's christmas present. The quality of the fabric and the realisation of this coat is simply outstanding. It fits perfectly, it feels warm and cozy, and most of all, it's absolutely stunning. For her, it is the "most perfect coat she ever had", For me she looks fantasticly classy and elegant. Recommend 100%, will buy again. I would love to see a men collection in the futur, I would totally buy one for myself, eyes closed. Thank you RainSisters !

This is my third coat from Rain Sisters. I had been eyeing this coat for at least a year now, and when it went on sale, I couldn’t resist purchasing it. I am so glad that I did! However, in my excitement, I forgot to order a petite size. Once I realized my error a couple hours later, I reached out to Rain Sisters and within minutes they corrected my mistake and updated my order to a petite size. Hands-down, the best customer service I have received from a retailer!

I never fail to get a number of enthusiastic compliments every time I wear this coat. I love it too—the color, style, fit, everything. The coats are pricey, but I will tell you they are well worth it. Also excellent customer service! I got the wrong size and they exchanged it without any hesitation.
